Manchester United

Last night 15 children from years 3 to 6 visited Old Trafford in Manchester. This was an amazing opportunity for many children to watch their first ever live football match.

Everyone were sitting behind the goal, which meant we could see the whole length of the pitch. We were lucky, the only goal was scored in the first half, right in front of our eyes.The highlight of the night was having 'Welcome Ysgol Y Tywyn' written on the board at half time. Even though it was a late night, everyone enjoyed themselves and also behaved brilliantly, all the children were a credit to Ysgol Y Tywyn.

Neithiwr cafodd 15 o ddisgyblion y cyfle i fynd i wylio gem beldroed yn Old Trafford. Roedd hyn yn gyfle arbennig i rai disgyblion weld gem fyw am y tro cyntaf.
Roedd ein seddau y tu ol i'r gol, a oedd yn golygu ein bod yn gallu gweld y cae ar ei hyd. Yn ffodus iawn sgoriwyd yr unig gol yn ystod yr hanner cyntaf o flaen lle'r oeddem yn eistedd.Uchafbwynt y noson oedd gweld ' Welcome Ysgol y Tywyn' wedi ei ysgrifennu ar yr hysbysfwrdd yn ystod hanner amser.
Er ei bod yn noson hwyr, roedd pawb wedi mwynhau yn fawr. Yn ogystal a hyn roedd y plant wedi ymddwyn yn wych, ac yn glod i'r ysgol.

Reception / Year 1 / Foundation Phase

Fel rhan o weithgareddau’r tymor hwn, mae’r plant wedi cael y cyfle i ddysgu am yr Hydref. Rhan o’r gwaith oedd adeiladu lloches addas a chlyd i’r llwynog bach gysgodi ynddo yn ystod y gaeaf. Bu llawer o drafodaeth a dadlau ymysg y plant ynglyn a lleoliad a ffurf addas i’r lloches. Cafwyd llawer o syniadau diddorol.

As part of this term’s work the children have had the opportunity to learn about the Autumn. Part of the work was to construct a suitable and comfortable den for the little fox to shelter in during the winter. There was a lot of discussion and debate about a suitable site and structure of this shelter. The children thought of many interesting ideas.

Class de Mer

Once again Year 6 are taking part in the Class de Mer project. The children set off from Plas Menai in Rib speed boats and headed towards Beaumaris, stopping along the way to learn many different facts about the straits. Later they visited the Castle for lunch and there they enjoyed the afternoon exploring it's fascinating history. Before returning home they explored the wildlife on Puffin Island. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Unwaith eto eleni, mae disgyblion Blwyddyn 6 yn cymryd rhan ym mhrosiect y 'Class de Mer'. Fore Gwener cychwynodd y plant o Blas Menai mewn cwch cyflym gan wneud eu ffordd i gyfeiriad Biwmares. Yn ystod y daith dysgodd y plant lawer o ffeithiau diddorol am y Fenai. Wedi cyrraedd Biwmares, cafodd pawb bicnic yn y castell. Cyn dychwelyd adref cawsant gyfle i fwynhau bywyd gwyllt Ynys Seiriol. Bu'n ddiwrnod hynod ddifyr a diddorol dros ben.

Woodland Festival

On Thursday, years 3 & 4 went to Carreglwyd estate in Llanfaethlu to take part in the Woodlands Festival.
There was a dazzling aray of brightly coloured wellington boots leading for the bus that morning as the weather forecast was grim!

Various activities had been arranged, there was a walk in the woods to find and recognise all kinds of trees and shrubs, from blackberries and acorns to bay leaves and hazelnuts.

Learning how to safely light a camp fire, and better still how to toast marshmallows over it was a great success.

There were craft activities too, everyone enjoyed making real or imaginary creatures from bits of old card, paper and fabric - rubbish infact!

One of the highlights of the day was eating a picnic lunch by the lake in the warm Autunm sunshine. ( the weather man was quite wrong)

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and all that remains now is to find a home for all those re-cycled creatures that the children brought back to school with them!

Fel rhan o Wyl Goedwig Ynys Mon, ymwelodd plant Blwyddyn 3 a 4 a'r Garreg Lwyd ger Llanfaethlu. Cymerodd y plant ran mewn amrywiaeth o weithgareddau yn cynnwys gwneud tan yn y goedwig, crasu 'marshmallows', ac adeiladu creaduriaid dychmygol allan o sbwriel. Cyn dychwelyd yn ol i'r ysgol cafodd pawb bicnic ar lan y llyn.

Ceir/Cars

Ein thema yr wythnos hon yw 'Ceir'. Rydym wedi mwynhau adeiladu ceir, golchi ceir a gwneud traciau gyda ceir a'u olwynion wedi eu trochi mewn paent. Cawsom lawer o hwyl hefyd yn gollwng ceir i lawr rampiau o wahanol uchder i weld pa un sy'n teithio gyflymaf!

This week as part of our theme on toys, we have been talking about cars. We have built cars, washed cars and made tracks with cars dipped in paint. We also had lots of fun with ramps of different heights, finding out which ones made the cars go faster.

Gwasanaeth Diolchgarwch Y Feithrin/Nursery Thanksgiving Service

Fore Mercher yn neuadd yr ysgol cafwyd Gwasanaeth Diolchgarwch y Feithrin a'r Dragonflies.Roedd y plant bach ar eu gorau yn diolch i Dduw ar gan am y pethau sy'n eu gwneud yn hapus!

On Wednesday morning in the school hall the Nursery children and Dragonflies took part in their annual Thanksgiving Service. The children were in fine voice and thanked God for all the things which make them happy.

Pel-droed / Football

Last week Ysgol y Tywyn competed in our first league football match against Ysgol Rhoscolyn. It was a very close match but the determination of our midfielder and our striker saw Tywyn win the match 2 - 0. Well done.

Yr wythnos diwethaf bu Ysgol y Tywyn yn cystadlu yng ngem gyntaf y gynghrair a hynny yn erbyn Ysgol Rhoscolyn. Roedd yn gem agos a chyffrous, ond drwy ddyfalbarhad y blaenwr a'r chwaraewr canol cae llwyddodd Tywyn i ennill y gem o ddwy gol i ddim. Da iawn chi!
