Royal Charter

Pupils from class 2 have been learning all about the Royal Charter, the ship full of gold which sank off the coast of Moelfre in 1859. As part of this work, they visited Oriel Mon in Llangefni to see the Royal Charter exhibition and to watch the specially commissioned DVD. They then went on to Moelfre to have their lunch and to view the 'scene' of the tragedy.
Later on they visited Llanallgo church where many of those who perished in the storm were buried. We are very grateful to Mr Gwilym Hawes ex headteacher at Moelfre school and Mr Dafydd Evans church warden, for showing us around the inside of this 800 year old church.
They also showed us the commemorative obelisk which was erected by public subscription to remember the tragedy and those who perished.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit which helped to clarify a number of points discussed in class.

Yr wythnos hon bu Dosbarth 2 yn dysgu am y Royal Charter, y llong llawn aur a suddodd ger arfordir Moelfre ym 1859. Fel rhan o'r gwaith ymwelodd y plant ag Oriel Mon yn Llangefni ac yno gwelsant arddangosfa a DVD yn ymwneud a'r llongddrylliad. Yna aeth y plant i Moelfre i weld man y drychineb ac hefyd i fwyta cinio.
Yn y prynhawn ymwelodd y plant ag eglwys Llanallgo lle claddwyd y rhai a foddwyd. Roedd y dosbarth yn ddiolchgar iawn i Mr Gwilym Hawes, cyn-brifathro Ysgol Moelfre a Mr Dafydd Evans Warden yr eglwys am ddangos y tu mewn i'r eglwys hynafol iddynt. Gwelsant hefyd yr obelisg a gyflwynwyd i'r eglwys gan y cyhoedd i gofio'r drychineb a'r rhai a foddwyd.

Pel-droed / Football

This week in our football leauge we faced Ysgol Fali at home. The team was nervous at the begining of the match but as soon as they scored early on in the game, the goals kept coming. The score at the end of the match was 11 - 1. This was a big boost to our confidence but we still a few more dificult matches left. Well done everyone.

Yr wythnos hon yn ein cynghrair beldroed roedd Ysgol y Tywyn gartref yn erbyn y Fali. Ar gychwyn y gem roedd y tim ychydig yn nerfus ond o fewn deg munud sgoriwyd y gol gyntaf. Dilynwyd hi gan ddeg gol arall. Y sgor terfynol oedd 11 - 1! Roedd y canlyniad hwn yn hwb mawr i hyder y tim gan fod ychydig o gemau anodd ar ol eto i'w chwarae. Da iawn chi i gyd!

Blodau/Flowers

Yr wythnos hon yn y Feithrin bu'r plant yn dysgu am flodau. Buom yn chwilio am flodau, gwrando ar storiau am flodau, canu am flodau a phaentio lluniau o flodau. Gwelsom lun enwog Van Gogh o'r blodau haul a chawsom gyfle i blannu hadau er mwyn ceisio tyfu ein blodau haul ein hunain. Mae cwt Percy allan ar yr iard bellach yn Ganolfan Arddio.

This week the Nursery children have been learning about flowers. We've been looking for flowers, listening to stories about flowers, painting pictures of flowers and singing about flowers. We've all seen Van Gogh's famous Sunflowers and we've also planted some Sunflower seeds. Outside, Percy's hut has now become a Garden Centre.

Urdd

Congratulations once again to our Urdd members. You may remember our fantastic achievement in the Anglesey Urdd competitions. The winners then had the opportunity to compete against the whole of Wales. The school were deli ted to find that they had managed two third prizes, two second prizes and three first prize.

Very well done everyone, Ysgol y Tywyn are very proud of you!

Llongyfarchiadau unwaith eto i aelodau'r Urdd. Yn dilyn llwyddiant yr Adran yn Rhanbarthol anfonwyd y cynnyrch buddugol ymlaen i'r Genedlaethol yn Abertawe. Ddechrau'r wythnos cyhoeddwyd y canlyniadau ac unwaith eto roedd y plant wedi gwneud yn rhagorol. Cafwyd tair gwobr gyntaf, dwy ail wobr a dwy drydedd wobr. Da iawn blant, mae'r ysgol yn falch iawn o'ch llwyddiant.

Pel-droed / Football

During the first week, Tywyn had a match against Thomas Ellis. Despite the poor weather the match went on. The first half was very close with Tywyn almost scoring. The second half started quickly with Tywyn attacking with shot after shot, but not one finding the back of the net. Suddenly we were caught on the back foot and one of their strikers zoomed passed our defence to score the only goal of the match. Very unlucky Tywyn but well done Thomas Ellis.

Yn ystod yr wythnos gyntaf cafwyd gem beldroed yn erbyn Ysgol Thomas Ellis. Er gwaethaf y tywydd gwlyb aeth y gem yn ei blaen. Roedd yr hanner cyntaf yn weddol gyfartal a Thywyn yn agos i sgorio. Felly hefyd gychwyn yr ail hanner gyda Tywyn yn ymosod ond yn methu cael hyd i gefn y rhwyd. Yna yn sydyn llwyddodd un o ymosodwyr Thomas Ellis i dorri drwy'r amddiffyn a sgorio unig gol y gem. Anlwcus iawn Ysgol y Tywyn ond llongyfarchiadau Ysgol Thomas Ellis!
